An equipment bag that a NASA astronaut accidentally lost while maintaining the Space Station (ISS) was found floating around Earth’s orbit. NASA announced on the 1st that astronauts Jasmine Mobelli and Loral O’Hara lost the equipment bag while maintaining the ISS. He stated that he lost it by mistake. At the time, there were two astronauts, including O’Hara, on the ISS maintenance mission, and it was reported that both astronauts left the spacecraft for the first time and went on a space walk. NASA said on its official blog, “During the mission, the equipment was accidentally damaged. “The bag slipped out of the astronaut’s hand,” he said. “I saw this scene from the spacecraft, but the equipment in the bag was no longer needed for the mission, and I decided that there was no need to risk getting the bag back, so I left it alone.” However, a day later, on the 2nd, this bag was captured by the telescope of Japanese astronaut Satoshi Furukawa, who was observing the sky above Mount Fuji in Japan. Furukawa took a photo of the bag and posted it on X (old Twitter). The white, square-shaped bag “glows incredibly brightly,” NASA explained. The bag is currently orbiting the Earth regarding 2 to 4 minutes ahead of the ISS. It is slightly darker than Uranus and can be observed with binoculars from Earth. However, this bag is not expected to continue orbiting the Earth. This is because the altitude of the bag is gradually dropping. The bag is gradually falling to the Earth, and when it reaches regarding 110km above the Earth, it burns up and disappears due to friction with the atmosphere.
