NASA announces the discovery of a potentially habitable new planet

It is in a press release published on Tuesday 10 January that the American space agency (NASA) has announced the discovery of a potentially habitable exoplanet some 100 light years from Earth. It is part of the constellation of Dorade.

The second such discovery since 2020…

In 2020 already, a discovery of this kind had made noise, that of YOU 700 d. Today as in 2020, the exoplanet discovered is a size similar to that of Earth, and above all, is in the habitable zone of a starwhich means that water in a liquid state is potentially on its surface.

TOI 700 d and TOI 700 e, as well as two other planets, all revolve around the same red dwarf: TOI 700. And according to Emily Gilbert, postdoctoral fellow at NASA who participated in the research, it is “ one of the few systems with several small planets in the habitable zone that we know of ».
