Nas, Jungle, Phoenix, Kenny Garrett, Meute… In Nice, the jazz festival veteran sees big

It has seen all the colours (and styles) since its first edition in February 1948, when the Second World War had changed the world. It’s not over yet. If at the time Louis Armstrong and Django Reinhardt had, among others, started the beautiful story at the Opera and the municipal casino, in front of American soldiers still very much present in the region, the Nice jazz festival (Alpes-Maritimes) is starting its little revolution this year.

First of all, on the form. He who claims to be the oldest creation on the planet is timidly changing his name by adopting the name Nice Jazz Fest! instead of Nice Jazz Festival. And it is moving to the end of the summer because of the arrival of the Tour de France organized in the town last July. In total, 24 artists will perform on two stages for four evenings, from this Tuesday 20 to Friday 23 August, while the audience capacity is increased from 8,500 to 11,500 people.
