Narcoblockades extended to Guanajuato; reported fires of cars, shops and pharmacies

Los Clashes between the Army and criminal groups in Jalisco provoked a wave of aggressions and narco-blockades in different points of the entity that extended to the municipalities of Irapuato and Celayain Guanajuato.

Preliminary reports from the Secretary of Citizen Security of Celaya reported that until 10:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 9, they had registered three vehicles on fire in the Girasoles First Section neighborhood. Also, a business was set on fire.

As a result of these events, the authorities confirmed the arrest of several people identified as members of a criminal groupwho wore pixelated clothes.

On the other hand, official sources confirmed to Infobae Mexico that, so far, intentional fires have been recorded in Irapuato in 11 self-service stores (of the Oxxo chain), as well as in a pharmacy, a gas station and a white line establishment.

“Derived from the attacks that occurred in some municipalities of the country, including Irapuato, the Secretariat of Citizen Security informs that at the moment and through all our areas we take care of firesin at least eleven commercial establishments and several vehicles in various parts of the city, ”said the City Council through a statement.

The most recent information indicated that in Guanajuato there are no reports of injured people as a result of drug blockades and fires to establishments. In this sense, personnel from the Fire Department began work to attend to the incidents.

Given the spread on social networks of alleged fires at Oxxo stores in Leónthe Ministry of Security, Prevention and Citizen Protection of the municipality announced that, until 10:00 p.m. on August 9, they had no report of such incidents.

However, around midnight, they confirmed work to attend to fires apparently caused in a store of the colonia Industrial and one more in Guadalupe Subdivision.

Derived from the violent events, different portals of the local press of Queretaro reported that elements of the entity set up a border security operation with Guanajuato.

Hours before the fires started in Guanajuato, elements of the Armed forces they clashed with criminals of organized crime in the limits of Ixtlahuacan del Rio and Cuquioin Jalisco.

In response, other criminals set fire to vehicles on the highway to Saltillo, specifically in the entrance area to the city, with the aim of prevent access by security corporations.

Then, in a preliminary way, the Zapopan Police reported that there were at least three vehicles on fire in the city. It was reported that subjects with tactical clothing and long weapons made users get off and they proceeded to set the cars on fire.

Among inhabitants of the area and local media, the version circulated that the wave of violence was unleashed following the security forces arrested Ricardo Ruiz Velazco, alias “El Doble R” or “El Gut”lieutenant of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) in Michoacan. So far, the institutions have not issued any statement in this regard.

According to data from the Secretary of National Defense (Sedena), “The Double R” began his criminal career in Jalisco, although he later decided to venture into Michoacan and ended up spreading to Guanajuato and Zacatecas.

In recent years, little has been said regarding this leader of the four-letter cartel. In July 2020, the federal government identified him as the likely culprit behind a video that went viral in which members of the criminal group appear with military uniforms, trucks and high-caliber weapons.

“¡Pure people of Mr. MenchoUp the lord of the roosters!”, are some of the slogans that the members of the CJNG shouted in the recording.

In addition, they related him to the murder of the then Secretary of Tourism of Jalisco, José de Jesús Gallegos Álvarez, in March 2013.

In December 2014, local media reported that “El Doble R” had been detained in Aguascalientes by elements of the State Police, since he had nine arrest warrants once morest him. However, hours later he was released.
