The Parisian Louvre hosts masterpieces from the Capodimonte Museum in Naples, to become, over the next six months, with its private collections, the world’s richest museum of works devoted to the Italian Renaissance.
The exhibition – titled “Naples in Paris” – occupies three locations in the museum: the large gallery, the chapel hall, and the clock hall.
The exhibition includes nearly 70 works of art from the Italian Museum, which is undergoing renovations from 2024. The works of the Italian Museum were collected before the unification of Italy, by the Farnese, Bourbon and Bonaparte-Moura families.
In addition to the hundreds of works already in the collections of the Louvre Museum, visitors to the world-famous French museum can learn regarding the best creations of Italian painting from the 15th to the 17th century.
The exhibition presents the most beautiful portraits that were completed between Venice, Rome and Florence, between 1515 and 1535, as well as masterpieces bearing the signature of prominent names in Italian art, such as: Caravaggio, Masaccio and Bellini.
