The smell of urine, rats and zero decorum in the municipal parking lot of Little bridgesin the eastern part of Naples. Part of the structure of Argine Streetoccupied by some homeless people, is in terrible conditions among brushwood, waste and makeshift materials brought by street vendors who have long made the courtyard their precarious home. An indecent spectacle before the eyes of many.
INSIGHTS
In fact, for several months now, the space near the exit ramp of the parking lot has been left without any care. The greenery, which had grown lush, has only been destroyed by the constant trampling of the campers who have transformed the flowerbed into a sort of temporary accommodation among chairs, armchairs, mattresses, a kitchenette and furnishings useful for spending long days in difficult hygienic conditions.
Weeds and rubbish obstruct the indicated path which Emergency Exit of the ground floor of the municipal building which can accommodate up to 160 cars in total.
Clothes, food and other material belonging to the homeless are piled up under the metal staircase, which is also to be used as an escape route, and right next to the electricity cabins.
It is therefore evident that need for massive cleaning so as to ensure hygiene, decorum and safety in the public property managed by the municipal company ANM Naples.
It is also essential to address the difficult conditions of the homeless living in the courtyard, which remains easily accessible at any time.
Things are no better outside the parking lot. The large space near the structure hosts the parking of several bus lines serving the eastern area and the city centre. Here too, weeds and dirty flowerbeds offer an unsightly spectacle for users and for the drivers themselves. This last circumstance is highlighted by Gennaro Demetrio Paipaiscity councilor of the “Manfredi sindaco” group, who asked the council and the Palazzo San Giacomo subsidiary to take action for a radical cleanup.
