Nantes win the French Cup after beating Nice

Nantes won the French Cup following beating Nice 1-0 on Saturday thanks to a penalty kick from Ludovic Blas.

Blass scored from a penalty kick two minutes following the break, as Nantes won the French Cup for the fourth time in its history.

Nice and Nantes reached the final of the French Cup following the first eliminated Versailles in the semi-finals, while the second beat its rival Monaco on penalties (4-2), so that the two teams tried to compensate for the disappointing domestic season by lifting the title.

Nantes managed to achieve its fourth title in the competition, having previously achieved it in the years 1979, 1999 and 2000, while it was runner-up on 5 previous times (1966, 1970, 1973, 1983 and 1993). Nantes occupies ninth place in the French League, while Nice is fifth .

This is the first time that the Paris Saint-Germain team has not been a party to the final during the last seven seasons, as it was crowned in the 2015, 2016, 2018, 2020 and 2021 editions, while losing one version in 2019 only.
