(Ecofin Agency) – The Namibian trade balance deficit widened by 32.4% in August 2023 compared to the previous month, according to a report published by the Namibian Statistics Agency (NSA). The document shows the balance increased from N$3.7 billion in July to N$4.9 billion in August 2023.
Over the period studied, imports amounted to 12.3 billion Namibian dollars, an increase of 3%, driven mainly by imports of petroleum oils (22.1%). Exports, for their part, decreased by 10.2%, reaching approximately 7.4 billion Namibian dollars compared to 8.2 billion recorded in July 2023.
Precious stones, particularly diamonds, account for 31.2% of the total share of products exported over the period under review.
