The electric crossover EV6 of the Korean company Kia is recognized as the best car in Europe. The results of the Car of the Year 2022 award, which were summed up in Geneva, Switzerland, are reported on the official website Car Of The Year.
Thus, the mentioned model took first place in the ranking and received 279 points from the jury, which included auto journalists from 22 European countries. The French Renault Megane E-TECH Electric is in second place with 265 points. It was followed by the Korean Hyundai Ioniq 5, which scored 261 points.
“We’re still independent of the automotive industry and we still don’t have categories (…) We’ve only named one winner. We do not provide trophies to each participant, which is why this prize is so valuable,” explained the head of the jury Frank Janssen (Frank Janssen).
It is known that the Kia brand has already reached the finals of the Car of the Year competition, but it did not manage to rise above the third position. This victory was the first for the company.
In 2021, the Toyota Yaris compact hatchback won the competition with 266 points. It was ahead of the Fiat 500 (240 points) and Cupra Formentor (239 points).
