The Syrian artist, Naim Hamdi, sparked widespread controversy because of his recent statements in which he considered that the artist, George Wassouf, no longer deserves the title of Sultan of Tarab.

Naim Hamdi said, during his hosting of one of the radio programs, that: “George Wassouf’s voice is very different from the previous one due to the factor of age and disease, stressing that he no longer deserves the title (Sultan of Tarab), which he crowned for decades, because of the different data currently.”

Hamdi criticized Al-Wasouf’s insistence on singing so far, despite the difference in his voice from the previous one, explaining that if he was in his place, he would not have taken the stage again, stressing that what he said was because of his love and concern for him.

Hamdi accused the artist Nancy Zaabalawi of spoiling his song “Yama Rahana and Mishina”, which she attributed to herself in an album she recently released, stressing that it is never right for her to attribute the song to herself while he is still alive.
