YEREVAN, Armenia (AP) — The separatist government of Nagorno-Karabakh said Thursday it will dissolve and its internationally unrecognized republic will cease to exist by Jan. 1, 2024.
The announcement followed a lightning offensive by Azerbaijan to regain full control of its rebel region. Azerbaijani authorities called on ethnic Armenian troops in the region to hand over their weapons and dissolve the separatist government.
Nagorno-Karabakh was run by separatist authorities for regarding 30 years.
