Nadine Fähndrich Disappointed in Davos Skate Sprint: Tour de Ski Update

2024-01-03 20:46:50

Nadine Fähndrich experienced a slight disappointment during the skating sprint in Davos as part of the Tour de Ski. The Lucernoise, who won last year in Graubünden, failed in the semi-finals. She finished in 7th place. The victory went to the Swede Linn Svahn.

The leader of the Swiss team, who has not yet fully recovered her physical condition following various health problems in December, was unlucky. Her first semi-final with the favorites dragged on. So much so that she was eliminated on time as 3rd. In the other semi-final, four cross-country skiers were faster and qualified for the final.

Victory, in this race contested for the first time at night, is the prerogative of Linn Svahn, already winner at Dobbiaco in the opening. The Swede won ahead of the Norwegian Kristine Stavaas Skistad and the American Jessie Diggins. Olympic and world champion Jonna Sundling was, to everyone’s surprise, eliminated in the quarter-finals.

In the general classification of the Tour de Ski, Jessie Diggins is in the lead following 4 of the 7 stages. Nadine Fähndrich is not yet sure whether she will continue the event in stages.
