Spain’s Rafael Nadal won the French Open title following defeating Norway’s Casper Ruud 6-3 6-3 6-0 on Sunday in the final.
This is Nadal’s fourteenth title in the French Open and the 22nd in his career in the Grand Slam tournaments, consolidating his record as the most player crowned with Grand Slam titles.
On the other hand, Rudd was fighting for his first Grand Slam title.
Although the issue of Nadal, 36, continuing to play is not yet clear, he appeared at a good level and was not affected by his foot injury, and he was able to outperform Ruud, who was playing his first Grand Slam final in his career.
Rudd was no match for his idol, who won 11 games in a row to add the French Open to the Australian Open title he inspired earlier this year, and also maintained his impressive record in the French Open matches.
This is the first time he has won the Australian Open and French Open titles in the same season.
Currently, Nadal is two titles ahead of Serbian Novak Djokovic and Swiss Roger Federer in terms of the number of titles won in the Grand Slam tournaments, where both Djokovic and Federer won 20 titles.
