World number four Rafael Nadal qualified for the Indian Wells International Tennis Tournament, one of the 1,000-point Masters tournaments, by defeating Britain’s Dan Evans 7-5, 6-3.
With this victory, the Spaniard achieved his seventeenth consecutive victory in 2022, avoiding a long match to achieve a “Remontada” similar to his previous match once morest American Sebastian Korda.
The record holder for the number of grand slam titles (21) since winning the Australian Open in January will face American Riley Opelka (17th seed), who beat Canadian Denis Shapovalov (13th seed) 6-7 (4/7), 6 -4 and 6-4.
