In Louis Chedid’s family, I’m asking for the youngest, Anna, alias Nach. -M-‘s little sister is releasing her fourth album, “Peau Neuve”, this October 20, 2023, an opus that she concocted from start to finish in Morocco, even going so far as to train as a sound engineer.
She took the end of her first name, Anna, and the beginning of her last name, Chedid, and became Nach. The little sister of Matthieu Chedid, alias -M-, is sunny, gentle and generous. This October 20, 2023, she releases her fourth album, Makeoverwhich she wrote in Morocco.
For this new opus, the singer was involved from start to finish, from writing to mixing, including the clips, the album cover and production. “I experienced great professional and personal upheaval, she says. An end of tour, a confinement, a separation, a move… I was crossing the desert so I left on a trip for six months with my keyboard and my microphone to compose songs.”
The album was born in Morocco. “A dayNach remembers, I made a hammam, I saw all these skins disappear into the flow of water. I had a revelation and I said to myself: “ I’m in the process of getting a makeover. “. I wrote my song in the night.”
As a “daughter of”, I needed to find my uniqueness.
“I neededaffirm following, to feel this life even more powerfully. By having the audacity to try things, we can go even further in detecting the beauty and power of existence.”
And above all, the artist needs change. She who is always presented as the daughter of Louis Chedid and -M-‘s sister needs to find her own way. “I am proud of my family. I started as a backup singer on The pink soldiermy father’s show.”
“But I often wonder what I have to say. I challenged myself on this, it was important that I draw a singularity within myself, not to separate myself from them but to find my own place.”
“I found my place in the Sahara. So I wanted everything to happen in the desert. It’s a place where everything is possible once more. We don’t know if it’s death that comes or life that returns. It’s all happening there, the photos of Diane Moyssanthe clips.”
“I saw myself in the desert with a black grand piano. As it was impossible, I had a fake piano shell built to Ouarzazate and brings in a keyboard Marrakech… So you have to believe in your dreams!“
My goal through music is to transmit emotions.
Her passion for music dates back to childhood, although she once considered becoming a psychologist. It’s at eight years old, listening La Callas interpreter Casta Diva, which she decided she wanted to sing. “I didn’t understand the lyricsshe smiled, but I wanted to cry and I didn’t know why. I understood then that singing was emotion, and that this was what I wanted to convey.“
Since then, Nach has been writing poems and songs in a notebook given to her by her grandmother, the poet Andrée Chedid.
If Nach wrote the album in Morocco and shot its clips there, she recorded it in the Arcachon basin and in Paris, mixed it in New York, she is the producer, she created her own label and even trained as a sound engineer. “New skin means new skin! I recreated everything… I have twelve jobs today, my life is reinventing itself from A to Z and I’m very happy, especially since I’m going on tour. For me, the goal is to be on stage and share with people.“
