A providential goal from goalkeeper Baptiste Davaï allowed Lannion to narrowly snatch a draw at home this Saturday against Plabennec.

If the match itself did not reach the heights, the end of the encounter will remain in the annals. Indeed, while the game had been going into injury time for four minutes, Lannion benefited from a corner, which was taken by Vidot. On this action Davai, the Lannion goalkeeper, moved up to the front posts and with great composure, with a superb header, he obtained the unexpected equalizer for his colors. “This goal shows the good state of mind of the group. We will definitely hear about this story for a long time,” said Nicolas Laspalles, the Lannion coach. “It is disappointing to be equalized in this way. We thought we would bring back the three points, but we know that with Lannion something can always happen and we had the bitter experience tonight. It is very frustrating,” stressed Hubert Castets, the Plabennec coach.
A state of mind that pays off
Both teams struggled to break free for this first match of the season. The best opportunity for the Finistériens came on a very nice shot from Lengrand, magnificently deflected into a corner by Davai (38′). Just before the break, Lannion had a great opportunity, but Louka Morin’s shot grazed the crossbar. At the start of the second half, Gilles, alone in the penalty area, opened the scoring for Plabennec with a cross shot (46′). On receiving a cross from Guiziou, Devaux saw his header stopped by Laurent (61′). Finally, this return match ended with a draw, which satisfied the Lannionnais, who came from far away. “Over the whole match we had some waste, but what I will remember is the good spirit of the boys, who never give up,” concluded Nicolas Laspalles.
