Alytus City Mayor N.Cesiulis told the Alytausgidas.lt portal that after the change in the Law on Local Self-Government and the abolition of the positions of deputy directors of the municipal administration, more burden falls on the vice mayors.
“I had to communicate with the current candidate while working in the Alytus Regional Development Council. She has a lot of good experience in both private business and the public sector. I believe that her experience will help us in the near future when working with future investments and projects,” said the mayor. N.Cesiulis assures that in the next three and a half years, Alytus will reach almost 100 million euros in investments, so the team needs to be strengthened.
According to N. Cesiulis, L. Gaidžiūnaitė is non-partisan, did not belong to any party or committee, and the fact that she is not from Alytus is one of her advantages, which will help to look at the disadvantages and advantages of the city of Alytus from a different angle.
Two vice-mayors currently work in the municipality of Alytus, led by social democrats – Jurgita Šukevičienė and Bronius Bieliauskas.
According to the Law on Local Self-Government, municipalities with 27-31 members in their councils can have no more than three vice-mayors.
There are 27 members in the municipal council of the city of Alytus.
