OR Parga is a coastal town located in the northwestern part of the Preveza prefecture of the former Margaritiu province. It is built theatrically on the Pezovolos hill at an altitude of 139 m and up to the shores of the Ionian Sea. It has a population of 2,415 inhabitants and is an economic, commercial and tourist center of the region. The local communities of Agia, Anthousa, Livadario belong to the municipal community.
Today Parga is the most busy tourist resort of the area. Nearby are the beaches of Kryoneri, Piso Kryoneri (within the settlement of Parga), Valtos and Sarakiniko to the west, Lichnos and Ai Giannakis to the east. Directly across from the town is the picturesque Island of Panagia in which a church is built as well as medieval Venetian and French buildings. Another famous tourist attraction of the area is the Castle of Ali Pasha. It is the most popular tourist destination of Epirus. It is built on the outskirts of the Venetian castle and is clearly influenced by Heptanisian architecture.
During the summer months, Parga is connected daily by ferry to Paxos and Antipaxos. It is also connected to Ammoudia, Corfu and Lefkada. About fifteen kilometers from Parga is the most important ancient monument of the region. This is the most important necromancy of antiquity, the Necromancy of Acheron.
