Little Beatrice (5) celebrated New Year’s Eve with her mother and family friends – a few days later she was dead.
Italian media report on the tragic death of the little girl: Doctors at the Padua University Hospital fought for the little girl’s life for three days – in vain. A mysterious viral disease ultimately caused multiple organ failure.
► The Gobbo family from Veggiano (Veneto) – little Beatrice and her parents Francesca and Giovanni (both 43) – had actually planned a New Year’s Eve party in their own house: two families of friends and their children were supposed to come to celebrate the turn of the year together with the Gobbos .
After the cinema, Beatrice suddenly felt worse
But nothing came of it: on the eve of New Year’s Eve, Papa Giovanni fell ill and went to bed with flu symptoms. Without further ado, the party group moved the celebration to one of the other families. After all, the rest of the Gobbo family was still healthy at this point.
It stayed that way on New Year’s Day: After Francesca and little Beatrice returned home around 1:30 a.m., they went to the cinema the following followingnoon. Only then did Beatrice suddenly feel worse. Increasing fever and chills finally prompted her worried parents to call an ambulance.
As the “Südtirol News” portal reports, it is said to have succeeded in briefly stabilizing the girl. But a short time later, complications arose – including unexplained cerebral hemorrhages.

Even if these might be contained: On January 4th at 12:45 p.m., doctors diagnosed the girl’s death – apparently caused by various types of viruses. During initial investigations, they found that Beatrice’s organs had been irreparably damaged. An autopsy will clarify what exactly led to this collapse.
It is also being investigated whether there might be a connection between the father’s illness and the girl’s death. However, doctors do not believe that Beatrice’s death is related to the seasonal flu.
