Myanmar’s military has sentenced state adviser Aung San Suu Kyi to an additional prison sentence on the 10th (local time).

According to foreign media such as Archyde.com, a court ruled by the Myanmar military government sentenced Suzy to four years in prison for illegal possession of a radio and violation of COVID-19 quarantine measures. This is the second court ruling following the military sentenced two years in prison on the 6th of last month for sedition and violating COVID-19 quarantine measures. In the first ruling, the military originally sentenced Adviser Suu Kyi and President Yun Min to four years in prison, but as a pardon, the sentences imposed on the two men were reduced to two years.

The trial held in Naypyidaw, the capital, was not disclosed to the media, and Suzy’s lawyers are prohibited from contacting the media or the public.

The Myanmar military launched a coup on February 1 last year, claiming that the general election was fraudulent. Afterwards, Suzy was placed under house arrest and charged with a total of 12 crimes. Local media Myanmar Now reported that if all other charges, including bribery and leaking of secrets, are found guilty, adviser Suzy might be sentenced to a total of 116 years in prison. Adviser Suzy denies the charges, but the military government sentenced him to imprisonment in the second trial.

Meanwhile, the military has not disclosed where Suzy is currently detained. Myanmar’s Supreme Commander-in-Chief Min Aung Hlaing said last month that Adviser Suu Kyi and President Yun Min would stay in the same place throughout the trial and would not send them to prison, Archyde.com reported.
