Andy Lambertin was forced to order his son’s new pair of shoes online as it was out of stock in all the stores. The delivery was scheduled for March 28th, but when Andy’s son returned home, he mightn’t find the package. Upon checking the surveillance footage, Andy saw the courier delivering the package, taking a picture and picking up the package. He immediately contacted DPD to let them know, and they have launched their investigation and informed the police. DPD’s spokesman, Tom De Bruycker, confirms the internal investigation and hopes to provide answers next week. Meanwhile, Andy’s son is patiently waiting for his new pair of shoes.
Andy Lambertin is not a fan of internet shopping. However, last week, the Belgian father had no other choice to order his son’s new pair of shoes. “It was out of stock in all the stores, so we bought them online where the sneakers were still available,” he explains to the Importance of Limburg.
The purchase is made and delivery is scheduled for Tuesday, March 28. This is carried out by the DPD service. “My wife received a message that the package would be delivered between 10 and 11 am. Then, a little later, she received a delivery receipt with a photo to show that the package had been dropped off with us. »
However, when Andy’s son returns home, the boy finds no trace of his new pair of shoes. Faced with this strange situation, Andy decides to watch the images from his surveillance camera. “At 11:23 a.m., the time the package was reportedly delivered, there was no trace of it. But ten minutes earlier, I saw the courier delivering the package. Then he backed up to take a picture and, to my surprise, he… picked up the package! »
“It is not yet certain that it is a theft”
Outraged, the man immediately contacted DPD to let them know of the situation. “It’s a pity that they made believe that we had received the package. They sent us a photo of the delivered package. I told them what I had seen on the CCTV footage. In the meantime, they have launched their own investigation and have also informed the police. »
Tom De Bruycker, spokesman for DPD, confirms the opening of the internal investigation. “But it is not yet certain that it was a theft. We need time to investigate this,” he told HVBL. He hopes to be able to provide answers “by next week”.
In the meantime, Andy’s son still doesn’t have his pair of shoes. “He was looking forward to it, but he’s going to have to be even more patient. »
The experience of Andy Lambertin and his missing package is a reminder of the potential problems that can arise with online shopping. It is important to remain vigilant and know your options in case of a similar situation. As for Andy’s son, we hope he gets his eagerly awaited pair of shoes soon.
