My priorities will be health, agriculture, energy and education (Israeli ambassador to Gabon) –

The new Israeli ambassador to Gabon, Amnon Kalmar, in an exclusive interview with the editorial staff of Gabonactu.com, listed the priorities of his diplomatic action in Gabon where he presented his credentials on August 8.

« Health will be one of my priorities “, declared the Israeli diplomat whose residence is in Yaoundé in Cameroon.

According to Amnon Kalmar, his country has very high-level doctors with proven experience who wish to make themselves available to the people of Cameroon and Gabon, the two countries in his diplomatic district.

In addition to health, Tel Aviv is counting on energy cooperation in Gabon. Israeli expertise in this sector is well known in Gabon. Between 2013 and 2016, the Israeli company Téléménia delivered two thermal power plants running on natural gas, diesel and fuel oil to Libreville and Port-Gentil (the economic capital).

The Libreville power plant built in Alénakiri was inaugurated on August 15, 2013. With a total cost of 65 billion FCFA (99 million euros), it has an electricity production capacity of 70 megawatts.

The one in Port-Gentil, delivered on Wednesday, November 30, 2016, has a capacity of 105 megawatts. It also runs on natural gas, diesel and fuel oil.

The State of Israel intends to intensify cooperation in this vital sector to support the industrial development underway in Gabon.

Agriculture and education

A quasi-desert country, Israel is nevertheless self-sufficient in terms of food thanks to its so-called ” drop by drop ».

« We want to participate in the development of agriculture in Gabon “, pledged Ambassador Kalmar.

In Lebamba in southern Gabon, a few years ago, the current Minister of Public Works, Flavien Nzengui Nzoundou, brought in Israeli experts to grow onions. The experiment was very conclusive and the region has long consumed onions grown in Lebamba thanks to Israeli technical assistance.

The Hebrew state also wants to make its mark in the Gabonese education sector. It is considering more dynamic cooperation in the technology sector, whose Israeli genius is recognized worldwide.
