My Princess: An Urdu drama based on Lady Diana

Based on the life of Lady Diana, the drama ‘My Princess’ is probably the first drama in the history of Pakistan which is based on the life of a princess of the British royal family.

Lady Diana is known as the princess of hearts, which is why she is still beating in the hearts of lovers today.

Although politics has been chosen instead of monarchy in this play because politics in our society is synonymous with monarchy, but the halo around the princess is the same as that around the royal princess.

She previously had four seasons of Netflix comedy series ‘The Crown’ on the life of Lady Diana.

The film ‘Diana’ was also a huge success. Apart from this, many documentaries have been made on Lady Diana all over the world, but this character is being presented for the first time in Pakistani society.

Since it is a real princess story, it feels unique and different without being artificially glamourised.

The day Daniya, the main character of the play, is born, her mother no longer lives in this world. Therefore, Daniya is raised by her maternal grandparents. They are also part of the royal family and a political family here, but despite this, they and Daniya have a simplicity.

Daniya wants to live a romantic life full of love, which she is willing to spend on less money. He says, ‘Life can be lived without money. Not without love.’

This sentence reflects his whole thought, dreams, but generally, a person understands the importance of love and respect of the whole life. And most of them have to go through the test of their dreams. Daniya never wanted to be a daughter-in-law of this family, but fate brings her to this material world. It not only brings but also forces to live a material and gray life.

Since princesses have seen materialism and its benefits and benefits, they give importance to living in life. A palace is a prison for them, but a common girl does not understand how palaces, wealth and lust are prisons.

This is well portrayed in the classic film ‘Roman Holiday’.

Shahroz’s father is the CM and being a CM in Pakistan is a monarchy. Daniya is the cousin of Shahroz, whose mother died after a year of marriage and Daniya’s father remarried his sister-in-law.

Suddenly, Daniya’s aunt’s health deteriorates, so the doctor says she will be a guest for some time. They want that a girl from the family would be found for their son, then the family’s honor would remain and the family blood would remain in the family.

Girls are rarely born in the family, so Lede has no one except one Daniya. In this conflict, he chooses his niece Daniya for his son Shahroz.

On the wedding night, Daniya learns that Shahrooz is already married to a non-Muslim girl, and has a son who lives in America. The girl who was never accepted by her family.

As if everyone knows that Shahroz is married and father of a child, but this is hidden from Daniya and her maternal grandparents.

Everyone, including Daniya’s father, tells her that it doesn’t matter that Shahruz is married.

She has the rank of daughter-in-law of the family and so is the next princess.

Daniya’s grandmother is not happy with this marriage and after the marriage, Daniya has to endure the pain from the first night of the love object, who has to watch artificial stakes.

She starts hiding all this from her maternal grandparents. Her mother-in-law has also taken her mobile phone so there is no way to contact her.

The real blow for Daniya is Shahroz’s first wife Kim and son Sunny coming to Pakistan. What is special about this whole play is that there are no black and white characters. ‘Grey’ means gray characters.

Hieronyma No characters exist. All are worldly people. Whose priorities are to maintain possession of the world, worldliness, power, wealth and power.

To maintain all this, all are salt in the salt mine and are burning themselves in the fire within themselves and giving heat to others as well. This is what happens in politics and monarchy.

Shahruz’s mother also wants to be the next CM from her son because she was the queen in her husband’s life, so she is not being left in power and her sister’s idea of staying the queen is supported by her sister because she also knows. That if it is a queen, she is an empress.

It is for power that she brings her in-laws by marrying her sister and now she is making dowry for Shahroz’s two wives.

Shahroz’s character is being disliked on social media that the lives of two women are getting ruined due to it and the gray man inside is using both women as political pawns.

While both the women are sincere and love him, but for both of them it is an unacceptable truth to divide Shahroz.

On social media itself, the story of this drama is being said to be similar to the life of Benazir Bhutto, but Wikipedia and the channel are telling it as a story derived from the life of Lady Diana.

The thing is that there can be similarities in the lives of those who live in the hearts and whoever gives the paper in life, the result comes from the same.

It is Shahroz’s compulsion to keep Daniya. Family blood and a family marriage are of great importance in politics or monarchy. Cam is also the mother of his child and his love.

Now Shahruz spends half the night with one wife and half the night with the other, and he has brought both of them down in the glass.

This is the character of Shahroz Mard who is transparently seeing the deep heart inside him regarding the woman that if his goals are something else then it doesn’t matter whether he is in someone’s heart or not.

It matters what step and person is important to his goals. He can take many existences.

This is the principle of politics as well, but Shahroz’s mother is also a reflection of the society. Dania and Cam are reflecting on the public.

Zanzibel Asim Shah is a playwright and Hum TV is showing this unique story. The dialogues are simple but very strong and coherent. It was hard work, the hard work is showing.

The music is great. The background music has done the soul work. The acting is lively, though artificiality is being accused, but it is the character’s compulsion.

The character takes some subtleties from his land and some from his self. Therefore, the drama becomes easier to understand if you keep in mind that this is the role of Lady Diana, who was not the princess of this land.
