Former Chelsea and Arsenal winger Willian has now spoken out regarding his decision to leave Chelsea to join Arsenal in the summer of 2020. Willian, who currently plays for Fulham, told Sky Sports.
“Yes. I wish I never went. Yes. Of course, it’s easy to say something now, but later I realized that I made the wrong decision. But that’s life. I’m happy at Fulham now – I’m having fun here, so this is life.
The Brazilian winger joined Chelsea in 2013. He made 339 appearances for the club, scoring 63 goals and providing 62 assists. He was refused a three-year extension in the summer of 2020 due to Chelsea’s policy of offering short contracts to players over 30 during the Roman Abramovich era. When his contract at Stamford Bridge expired, he joined Arsenal. But he was unable to shine in any significant way at Arsenal. He later joined Fulham.
