My brother’s gift confused me and my wife

My brother’s gift was so big and so unexpected that I hesitated to accept it. However, my parents encouraged me to accept it because my brother’s family might afford it.

My husband and I have been married for 12 years, do not have money to buy land, currently renting a room. My parents love for a small piece of land next to it to build a house.

At first, my husband wanted to sell the land to buy another place because he didn’t want to be known as his son-in-law. But my parents did not agree, my father told us to only build a house and live on it, if we sell it, we will reclaim the land.

My husband wanted to go back to his hometown but there was no job there, the children had difficulty going to school, and finally he agreed to the plan of the wife’s parents. When I heard that we were going to build a house, everyone was happy, especially my mother so happy that she cried.

She said that she was always afraid that my husband would take the whole family to his grandmother’s house to live, and then she would never know when she would be able to meet her children and grandchildren. Now that we are right next to each other, we can meet every day.

Yesterday followingnoon, my brother and his wife came to visit, by the way, my husband talked regarding the plan to build a house. My brother doesn’t live with his parents, but he bought a large piece of land right next to my parents’ house.

When I was planning to build a tube house because of the narrow land, my brother suddenly said he would give me and my wife 2m wide and 10m long to build a spacious house. Immediately, the sister-in-law interrupted, saying that his brother was still drunk at noon, and his speech was not standard.

My brother is definitely not drunk. He said that he and his wife have been able to do business for many years, but we have had many difficulties. As a blood brother, seeing his sister poor, he mightn’t leave it alone.

He said we just plan to build a house, next week with less work, he will go to the ward to cut the land for me and my wife. That land is the property that the husband and wife have worked hard for many years to buy. How dare we accept. Parents told the eldest brother, if you can afford it, just take it, later you can make a profit and repay the favor later. Do you think we should build a house on the land our brother gave us?
