The company has updated the high-end product line, i.e. the Xiaomi 14, 14 Pro and 14 Ultra have arrived, according to the current information, the middle one of this trio will not even be brought to Europe.
The Xiaomi 14 with a 6.36-inch display is considered relatively small among top models, but it is not as compact as the Galaxy S24. In the box, the buyer will find not only a 90-watt charging head, but also a black case, if he rings the bell in the store for the HUF 400,000 purchase price. The 120 Hz OLED display is flat, protected by Gorilla Glass Victus, and the resolution has increased to 1200 x 2670 pixels.
The raw power is offered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, which provides truly smooth handling and uncompromising speed, and this is accompanied by 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of internal storage, which cannot be further expanded. The device supports e-SIM as an alternative to physical two-card operation, but there is no jack connector, but it has IP68 protection. The infrared port on the top of the phone has moved to the rear camera island.
The camera system, made in cooperation with Leica, offers three viewing angles, all three 50 megapixels. The fancifully named Omnivison Light Fusion 900 sensor works behind the main camera, according to our experience it delivers excellent quality both day and night, and a Samsung JN1 sensor is responsible for the 3.2x magnification and the ultra-wide viewing angle. The machine can record video with 8K resolution at 24 fps, with 4K30 you can already change the viewing angle during video recording, and OIS helps with both the normal and zoom cameras.
The system is HyperOS based on Android 14, which of course looks a lot like MIUI, but there are a lot of changes. Based on the experience so far, the European models do not yet receive all the new functions (we did not find, for example, pattern-protected shutdown and Xiaomi Interconnect capabilities), but the setting of the lock screen, the handling of floating windows, the front camera with a bar for system messages have changed mask it for a short time, in principle memory management has improved, the size of the system has become more compact and optimization is better, we will talk regarding these in detail in the test. Xiaomi promises 4 years of main version and 5 years of security package updates.
