A recent video showing a player being killed by an entirely invisible opponent has left MW3 fans worried, with many believing the only plausible conclusion is the existence of invisible cheaters.

Cheating is a major problem in many competitive online games, but it’s also a particular source of frustration for MW3 players.

Although Modern Warfare 3 developers are actively working to prevent cheaters from running rampant with waves of bans of tens of thousands of accounts, cheating remains a major problem in the eyes of many players.

And recently, players have said that cheating has reached new heights, with the presence of invisible players.

MW3 players wonder regarding invisible cheaters

In MW3, dying due to a server error isn’t exactly uncommon. Lag can have weird side effects, like getting shot through walls or the player model not matching their actual position depending on the server.

This is pretty typical in online games, and lag can create weird issues in certain circumstances.

However, what’s new is players turning entirely invisible and running through the middle of a map with a knife while not taking any bullets.

A player recently shared a video of this kind of action where we clearly see an invisible player eliminating him with a knife.

While there’s a chance it was some sort of bug or server quirk, players believe this person was cheating.

And, while the idea that his business card is a mockery of gamers, the fact that his name is “User” followed by several numbers raises doubts.

Yes, for once I’m not just going to say ‘oh it’s a desynchronization’ or ‘it’s laggy’ it’s just pure and simple invisibility” claims one Reddit user, a sentiment shared by many.

Finally proof. There were so many instances where the killcam clearly wasn’t showing up for me, but I attributed it to the speed of the game and optical illusions or whatever. I am not crazy. It really happens.” says another player.

So a real cheat or just a bug in the game? Given the number of responses from players who claim to have experienced the same situation, it is unfortunately likely that cheating is once once more the problem. So let’s hope that the developers look into this new form of cheating as quickly as possible.
