The Voluntary Movement for the Guarantee of the President (MVCP), during a press conference on Sunday, announced through its president, Maël Nkoghe Abeghe, that it would raise the sum of ten (10) million of CFA Francs as a deposit, payable to any candidate for the presidential chair, to allow the president of the transition, Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguéma, to stand as a candidate for the supreme office during the presidential election of the year next.
The president of the MVCP immediately gave participants an overview of the status of the structure he directs. Created in January 2024, the MVCP is neither an association, even less a political party and it is not intended to be one, said Maël Nkoghe Abeghe, who insisted on the specific mission of the MVCP which is that to collect the amount necessary to pay the security deposit ”candidate” Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguéma.
To this end, the MVCP praises the numerous achievements of the Committee for the Transition and Restoration of Institutions (CTRI) in the space of a year, in almost all of the vital areas of the Nation, in particular the reestablishment of scholarships in the secondary, the takeover of the oil company Assala, the creation of the airline FlyGabon, as well as the various constructions of roads, schools and the reconstruction of health centers, etc.
“In the space of a year we have seen all these different changes in the country. How can we not support these people who put their lives in danger for us through a coup d’état? » praised the president of the Voluntary Movement for the Guarantee of the President, Maël Nkoghe Abeghe.
For the security of “will be a candidate” Oligui Nguéma in the 2025 presidential election, a first collection was carried out on Sunday 1is December and resulted in the collection of a sum of 548,075 CFA Francs. A bank account will be opened and an Airtel money number will be communicated to all potential and generous donors.

## Gabon: Volunteers Rally to Fund Presidential Candidacy
**Interviewer:** Welcome to the show. Today, we discuss the recent announcement regarding Gabonese transtition president Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguéma’s potential presidential run. We are joined by[Alex Reed name, title], expert on Gabonese politics. Welcome to the show.
**Alex Reed:** Thank you for having me.
**Interviewer**: Allow me to refresh our viewers’ memories. The Voluntary Movement for the Guarantee of the President (MVCP), led by Maël Nkoghe Abeghe, has pledged to raise a 10 million CFA Franc deposit so that President Nguéma can run for office in next year’s election. Can you provide some context to this development?
**Alex Reed:** Certainly. Following the coup d’état in August 2023, which ousted long-standing President Ali Bongo, General Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguéma was appointed as the president of the transitional government, promising to return Gabon to constitutional order.
Now, the MVCP, formed only last January, has taken on the specific mission of securing the necessary funds for President Nguéma’s candidacy. This underscores a significant trend we’re seeing – strong support for the military leader as he navigates Gabon’s political transition.
**Interviewer**: The MVCP cites the achievements of the Committee for the Transition and Restoration of Institutions under President Nguéma’s leadership, including educational, economic, and infrastructural initiatives, as justification for their support. How are these narratives playing out in Gaon’s public discourse?
**Alex Reed:** It’s a mixed bag. Some Gabonese citizens feel reassured by these developments, seeing them as tangible proof of progress and commitment to stability under President Nguéma. Others remain wary, questioning the timelines for a return to democratic processes and expressing concerns over what they perceive as continuing military influence on the country’s future.
**Interviewer**: As this all unfolds, what are the key factors to watch in Gabon’s political landscape in the coming months?
**Alex Reed**: A few key areas will be crucial:
* Whether President Nguéma formally declares his candidacy
* The breadth and nature of political participation in the transition, including the role of political parties and civil society
* The international community’s response to the ongoing developments, specifically regarding Gabon’s democratic progress.
**Interviewer:**
