“Other proposals that parliamentarians have made are being studied to be able to incorporate them” into the short Isapres law, said this Monday the Minister of Health, Ximena Aguilera, commenting once more on the ruling that declared unconstitutional the debt mutualization mechanisms of the insurers that were incorporated into the project being processed by Congress.

The Constitutional Court (TC), which last week accepted the request from pro-government senators and the Christian Democrats (DC) – and to which the Government joined in extremis -, resolved that the aforementioned mechanism must come out of the proposal, given that It had been introduced via a parliamentary motion from the right and not as an initiative of the President of the Republic, who has exclusive power in the matter, according to the Fundamental Charter.

In a press conference, the head of Health stated that they will explore other ideas from parliamentarians to give stability to the private system, and recalled: “We have already incorporated indications that point towards financial balance, such as, for example, the payment and adjustment plan which requires that the isapres commit to a plan of how they will make the payment of the charges that the Court considered excessive. Let us remember that for this they have a period of 10 years, a period during which they will not be able to withdraw profits while there is a debt.”

“Within this plan,” he added, “there must be a component in which the Isapres commit to improving efficiency, reducing administration and sales expenses, and, on top of that, if justified, they will be able to request an adjustment.” price that allows achieving financial balance.”

The minister pointed out that “another measure that helps financial balance is also incorporated, which is that there are no plans below 7% and other proposals that parliamentarians have made are being studied to be able to incorporate them.”

It is worth remembering that the DC announced the presentation of indications so that restitutions can be made through shares and debt bonds to members, in line with what was proposed by Joanna Pérez, from Democrats.
