NEW YORK (EFE).— The vice presidential candidates in the United States presidential elections, the Democratic governor of Minnesota, Tim Walz, and the Republican senator of Ohio, JD Vance, argued last night in their first debate on immigration and both pointed out their respective bosses of being to blame for this crisis.
Vance accused the vice president and Democratic candidate, Kamala Harris, of being responsible for the border between the United States and Mexico during the administration of the current president, Joe Biden.
“The only thing she did when she became vice president, when she became the designated border czar, was undo 94 executive actions by Donald Trump that opened the border,” he said.
A moderator asked the Republican if he would support separating children from their parents at the southern border of the United States.
“My view is that we already have mass separations of children, thanks to Kamala Harris’ open border,” he said.
The senator also accused Kamala of allowing cartels to operate freely in the United States, alleging that they use minors to bring drugs into the country.
While Walz chose to target Trump for boycotting a bipartisan border bill when Republicans were in opposition.
He also said that Trump promised before reaching the Oval Office that he would build a “big and beautiful” wall, and that Mexico would pay for it, but that in his four years in office only “less than 2% of that wall was built, and Mexico “He didn’t pay a single cent.”
The Democratic vice presidential candidate also criticized Vance for “demonizing” immigrants, referencing his accusation that Haitian immigrants in Springfield, Ohio, ate residents’ pets.
Both Vance and Walz wanted to continue talking about immigration in the United States, even though the moderators wanted to move on to another topic, the economy, which is why CBS decided to cut off the candidates’ microphones.
From Los Angeles, Trump virtually broke into the debate, posting almost 45 messages, most of them attacking Walz.
“Tim Walz is not doing well. He is not qualified to be vice president. Like Kamala, it’s a total joke!” was one of about 30 messages he dedicated to running mate Kamala on the Truth social network.
