Muslims are called upon to continue to preserve peace and security

The Comibu (Islamic Community of Burundi) celebrated on Saturday, July 9, 2022, the feast of the sheep (Idil Adha) like all Muslims around the world. At the Comibu football field in the Nyakabiga zone in the commune of Mukaza in the town hall of Bujumbura, Muslims gathered to celebrate this holiday. The President of the Supreme Council of Sheikhs in Burundi, Hassan Nyamweru asked Muslims to celebrate the said holiday by continuing to preserve peace and security in their localities.

“According to our Muslim religion, this holiday reminds us of the day when God recommended Abraham to slaughter his only son Ishmael for sacrifice. When Abraham wanted to implement what was recommended to him, God sent him a sheep to slaughter instead of his son,” Sheikh Nyamweru said.

On the occasion of this festival, Sheikh Nyamweru also asked Muslims to celebrate this festival with their neighbors by sharing meat. Given that, in these times, the consumption of cow, goat and mutton meat has been suspended at the national level by the ministry in charge of livestock following the Rift Valley fever which attacked These animals.

The President of the Supreme Council of Sheikhs in Burundi took the opportunity to ask them to celebrate this holiday while continuing to preserve peace and security in their localities. And to slaughter cows, goats or sheep according to their possibility in the places known by the government.
