(Shenyang = Yonhap News) Correspondent Park Jong-guk = CEO Elon Musk of Tesla, an American electric vehicle company, recently announced that he would cut manpower, but China is increasing manpower, the Chinese state-run Global Times reported on the 6th.

An official from Tesla’s Chinese subsidiary said to the Global Times, “I haven’t heard of any plans to reduce the workforce,” and “rather, we’re hiring a lot of people.”

He continued, “Tesla has strict recruitment criteria, but there is still a shortage of talented people.” explained.

Tesla sold 474,600 cars in China last year, up 226% from the previous year. It accounted for half of Tesla’s 935,222 world sales last year.

Tesla is in the process of building a second factory in China that can produce 450,000 cars a year in Shanghai.

Earlier, Musk sent an email to a Tesla executive saying he had a “very bad feeling” regarding the U.S. economy and that he needed to suspend all hiring and cut staff by regarding 10%.

In an email sent to employees on the 3rd, he warned that many areas of Tesla were overworked and that the number of full-time employees would be reduced.

However, on the 4th, on Twitter, “the total number of employees will increase,” and “the number of employees receiving regular salaries will not change much.”
