X OWNER Elon Musk launched X TV, a video-watching app installed on smart TVs. The app is designed to watch videos posted on X’s social media.
“The beta version of X TV is out,” Musk posted on his personal X account, quoted Wednesday (4/9).
The X TV app is now available for download via Google Play, the Amazon app store, and the LG app store on smart TVs. The X TV app has not yet been released for Apple TV or the Apple App Store for tvOS.
According to the X TV app details, users can browse videos uploaded to X, as well as access live streaming videos on the platform. Users must be logged into their X account to use the TV app.
Previously, the only way to watch X video content on a television was to stream the video via a secondary device such as an iPhone or Android smartphone.
Elon Musk is said to want to make X an all-in-one application. Starting from social media services, job vacancies, banking applications, to video conferencing.

Musk wanted X to compete with LinkedIn for job listings and PayPal for payments. Now, Musk wants to compete with Zoom, Google Meet, and Microsoft Teams with video conferencing tools.
As reported by TechCrunch, one of X’s employees, Chris Park, posted the company holding its first internal conference via the video conferencing tool. Park claims the company will likely be working on other features in the video conferencing tool, such as the ability to pin speakers and better notifications to indicate who is joining or leaving.
An app researcher, Nima Owji revealed that the conference feature could allow hosts to assign a unique code to each meeting that participants would have to enter upon joining.
Meanwhile, Musk has not commented much on the video conferencing tool at X. He only replied to Chris Park’s tweet with a fire emoji. Meanwhile, X has not yet provided an official statement regarding the video conferencing launch plan. (M-4)
