Al-Ahly of Egypt is preparing to announce its new coach to lead the team during the coming period, succeeding South African Pitso Mosimane.
The South African coach terminated his contract by mutual consent during the current month of June, to decide to leave following losing the final of the African Champions League 2022.
Al-Ahly’s administration appointed assistant coach Sami Komsan as a temporary coach until a new foreign coach is signed.
Egyptian newspapers and websites circulated several nominations during the last period, for the names of coaches to lead Al-Ahly, including Yannick Ferreira and Roy Vitoria.
But Portuguese reports said, on Sunday, that Al-Ahly had officially agreed with coach Ricardo Soares to lead the team during the next stage.
The Portuguese newspaper, “Abola”, confirmed Al-Ahly’s agreement with Ricardo Soares, coach of the Gil Vicente team, to succeed Mosimane.
According to the newspaper, Al-Ahly offered the coach to sign a contract for two seasons, with the latter traveling to Cairo within a few hours to complete the agreement.
It is noteworthy that Ricardo Soares is 47 years old, and he spent most of his training career in the Portuguese and the last stop was with Gil Vicente.
