Musimani: My departure caused a shock in Al-Ahly

Pitso Mosimane, the former Al-Ahly coach, believes that his departure from the team caused a shock in the Red Castle, noting that with this decision he is following in the footsteps of great coaches such as Zinedine Zidane and Pep Guardiola.

Al-Ahly announced two weeks ago the termination of Musimani’s contract by mutual consent between the two parties, following nearly two years for the South African coach with the team.

Mosimane said in statements to the South African radio station “Kaya959”: “Leaving Al-Ahly was a very difficult decision, I left on my own and it was a shock to everyone in the club, but I felt that this was the right time to leave.”

“I renewed my contract last year and thought I would stay longer, but everything good comes to an end,” he added.

He continued: “Sometimes you feel that it has to end, sometimes you have to back down, the great coaches like Pep Guardiola and Carlo Ancelotti did it, Zinedine Zidane won the Champions League 3 times but he does not coach any team at the moment.”

He continued: “I am happy to take a break, I am happy to wake up at 11 am and I am glad that I am not responsible to anyone at this time.”

And the former Al-Ahly coach concluded his statements, saying: “I will return to training when I feel that I want to return.”
