Musim Mas Group has achieved a significant milestone in the Global Child Forum’s State of Children’s Rights and Business 2024 Global Benchmark and a Overall score of 9.3 out of 10 achieved. This makes the group one of the five best-ranked companies worldwide in Benchmark 2024. This assessment highlights Musim Mas’ ongoing commitment to children’s rights, family-friendly practices and community well-being.

Building on last year’s score of 8.7, Musim Mas has made further progress in the benchmark’s four key impact areas. Since 2023, the company has achieved 10 out of 10 in the Workplace subcategory, recognizing Musim Mas’ strict policies on family-friendly work environments and child labor prevention measures. The group’s score in the Governance and Collaboration subcategory increased from 9.4 to 10, reflecting strengthened governance, partnerships and adherence to children’s rights frameworks. This also includes setting up complaint mechanisms for internal and external stakeholders and employees.

These achievements demonstrate that Musim Mas proactively integrates children’s rights into its business strategies. The group has aligned its approach with the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. Musim Mas’ sustainability policy and active participation in the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) are further examples of these commitments.

“We are proud that we have continued to improve our score and are now in the top 5 and continue to achieve Leader status in the Global Child Forum Benchmark. This recognition reflects our commitment to protecting the rights of children in our operations and communities,” said Olivier Tichit, head of sustainability at Musim Mas. “At Musim Mas, we believe that supporting families, from comprehensive healthcare to educational opportunities, not only promotes community well-being but also strengthens our workforce. Around 10,700 children who live on our plantations are of school age. Most of them attend schools that we built and financed under our Anwar Karim Foundation (YAK),” he added.

Musim Mas has set up 47 child care centers, 11 kindergartens and 14 schools on its plantations in Indonesia, which are available free of charge to employees’ families. Scholarships are also available for higher education, 93 of which will be awarded in 2023 alone. The group offers essential health services for new and expectant mothers, parental leave and prenatal and postnatal care.
