Emmanuel Pahud brought together four musicians from the Berlin scene to pay tribute to his former teacher and mentor, Aurèle Nicolet (1926-2016), with a stage on Friday evening at the Salle de Musique in La Chaux-de-Fonds. It was remarkable, not only for the shimmering and incandescent breath of the Franco-Swiss flautist, but for the musical level and the commitment of his colleagues. Furthermore, the acoustics of this room lend themselves ideally to a chamber music programme.
