It’s not just the creator of the ultimate dance anthem “Disko Partizani” he is the one who pioneered the idea of Balkan clubbing with his legendary Bucovina Club parties and albums.
“Disco Partizani” (his first solo album in seven years) laid the foundations for an innovative music and that’s a fact. Shantel acts as a bridge between cultures. Everyone can find something to love in their music, which has influences from the Balkans, Europe and even Latin America.
Shantel’s music is the fruit of three generations because Shantel comes from an immigrant family with a myriad of influences. He is therefore one of the leading masters and connoisseurs of exotica/electronica fusion. His success stems from his honesty and his worldview that welcomes all people of all nationalities.It is influenced by melodies from all over the world, his music has a specific character. He was born in an immigrant family in Germany in 1968. He has Romanian-Jewish and Greek roots. He has 11 albums. He started his career as a DJ in Germany. He combined his “colorful” musical culture with European contemporary music.
Shantel has a deep love not only for traditional, gypsy and Jewish music, but also for traditional musical instruments. He says ethnic music plays a role in common rituals in societies, not just for pleasure like modern pop music.
He has collaborated with Greek artists, including the Greek performer Areti Ketime on his album “Viva Diaspora”. He says he wants to include every color in his music: “Think regarding traditional music, it’s simple. I mean the structure is sometimes very complicated… I’m not a traditional musician though!”
The internationally renowned Shantel opens today the curtain of the three-day climax of the Patrinos Carnival in George I Square at 21:30.
