Initially scheduled for Saturday August 10 and Sunday August 11, 2024, Fally Ipupa’s double concert at the Stade des Martyrs has been postponed to a later date.
This postponement is due to the measures taken by the country’s authorities, suspending all non-sporting activities at the Martyrs and Tata Raphaël stadiums, following the deaths of 9 people at the concert of gospel musician Mike Kalambay, held on Saturday, July 27, in the largest sports facility in the DRC – Democratic Republic of Congo
.
The sad events that marred the last concert do not allow, during this period of reflection, to be able to offer a show in serene conditions. We join the national community in presenting our sincere condolences to the bereaved families,” indicates the press release from the organizers.
And to continue: “We understand the disappointment and sadness that this announcement may cause for many music lovers, but our commitment to the law, the safety and well-being of our team, our artists and especially our precious audience, remains our top priority. Be reassured of our determination to return as soon as possible and our commitment to offering you memorable shows and thank you for your invaluable support.”
The organizers have also announced that they are closely monitoring the situation and that tickets already purchased will remain valid for the new dates.
As a reminder, the first edition of the International Festival of Arts and Culture (FestiGola) has also been postponed to a later date. The Gally Garvey concert scheduled for Saturday, August 31, at the Tata Raphaël stadium, will probably be postponed.
