As the police reported, the man had lost contact with his group around noon in the Patschgstuhl area in alpine terrain. When he was later missing by his companions, they reported him missing at around 4:50 p.m. via an emergency call. The mushroom picker – a Bosnian national – did not have a mobile phone with him. Police and mountain rescue then searched the densely overgrown area. A search dog and two police drones with thermal imaging cameras were also used. Around 8:30 p.m., the 39-year-old could only be found dead at about 1,150 meters above sea level. He may have crashed in the steep and impassable terrain.
