Museveni’s son announces on Twitter that he will stand for the elections in Uganda and then deletes the message

MADRID, 17 (EUROPA PRESS)

In the now-deleted message, Kainerugaba advocated representing the country’s “young people,” a possible criticism of his father, President Yoweri Museveni, 78.

“How many of you agree that our time has come? We have had enough with the older people ruling over us. Dominating us. It is time for our generation to shine,” he said in another message, which he has not deleted, according to the Ugandan newspaper ‘Nation’.

In October 2022, Kainerugaba had to apologize for another series of tweets in which he claimed that it would “only take me and my Army two weeks to take Nairobi”, as well as asking “where should I live once the Army ( Ugandan) take Nairobi”.

These tweets led to his dismissal as head of the Army, despite the fact that his father insisted that he is “a good general” and promoted him in the military career, amid suspicions that he is being prepared to replace his father in the position of president, according to ‘Nation’.
