The investigators and the investigating judge continue, on Wednesday, the presentation of their investigations in the context of the assassination of Luis Gonzalez Rojas, which occurred the night of February 16 to 17, 2020 in Manage. Anneliese Audain, companion of the victim, and Didier Bauwens, close to the couple, are accused of murder. They dispute the facts.
It appears from the computer investigation that Didier Bauwens did research on the Internet about a 22 LR caliber. He confesses, but he states that it was out of curiosity, because he had just found a shell casing in front of his café in Leval. While tapping on his phone, he came across, by chance, a 22 LR caliber.
Coincidence? According to the ballistics expert, the nine bullets which passed through the head, neck and thorax of the victim were fired with a 22 LR caliber. However, he could not say whether it was a pistol, a revolver or a rifle.
Two sources
The police were informed, by two sources, that Didier Bauwens had finally purchased a 22 LR caliber rifle, on February 15, 2020, from a man with an Italian surname. The investigating judge then decides to put this man, whom we will call the deliveryman of the weapon, and the intermediary (Didier Bauwens’ half-brother) under telephone surveillance.

The half-brother is arrested. He told investigators that Didier Bauwens discussed the purchase of such a weapon in his café with the man with the Italian surname, a customer of the bar. Arrest warrant
When questioned, the delivery man of the weapon denies having provided a 22 caliber to Didier Bauwens. Placed under arrest warrant by the investigating judge, he wishes to change his statement the next day. The investigators then went to Nivelles prison. He then says that his cousin intended to sell a new rifle, with a silencer and a scope. He then remembers being contacted by the half-brother of Didier Bauwens, because his brother was looking for a weapon “to kill rats”.
The transaction is concluded for the price of 600 euros. The meeting is organized in front of a café in Haine-Saint-Pierre. The delivery man is then taken to Didier Bauwens’ mother and he gives the weapon to Didier Bauwens’ half-brother.
Confrontation
Didier Bauwens denies having bought a weapon from this Italian whose name he has difficulty pronouncing. “I don’t know this man and I didn’t buy a gun,” he said Monday.

The seller, the deliveryman and the intermediary were confronted by the police. The delivery man said he had insisted to his cousin to sell the weapon. The seller wanted to get rid of it. He sold his rifle to the delivery man for 500 euros. The latter therefore made a capital gain of one hundred euros.
The weapon purchased by Didier Bauwens was never found.
The Center Canal
In addition to research into the weapon, Didier Bauwens was very interested in the Canal du Center and the rules in force for navigation on this waterway. Remember that it is in this canal that the victim’s car, with her inside, was found.
On February 14 and 15, he also visited a lot along the canal. According to him, it was because he went to the nearby cemetery, where his former partner, killed in a road accident in 2019, is buried. That year, he visited twice only on his grave, indicate the police. Didier Bauwens replied that he had suffered a bout of the blues in February 2020, which prompted him to hang out in the area on February 14 and 15.
According to information obtained by the police, an employee of the SPW Waterways was questioned by Didier Bauwens about recreational navigation on the canal.
