A North Carolina woman was charged with murder in connection with the death of her 10-year-old sister, authorities said.
The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release posted to Facebook that 22-year-old Kaneijah Zyir Bradley was arrested concerning the death of the child.
Deputies on Tuesday night responded to a residence in Enfield, North Carolina, regarding 70 miles northeast of Raleigh, on a report of a missing 10-year-old child.

When they arrived, they learned the child’s mother found the 10-year-old in the backyard. Deputies found the child was stabbed multiple times, and she was pronounced dead at the scene.
“Through investigation by Investigators, it is believed that the victim had been stabbed inside the home and moved outside to the rear of the home,” the release says.
An investigation is ongoing to determine the motive behind Bradley’s alleged stabbing.
“This is such a sad incident. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family,” Sheriff Tyree Davis said in the release.
Bradley is being held at the Halifax County Detention Center on no bond. She’s scheduled to appear in court next Thursday.
