Murder and Robbery at Jeweler’s Shop in Cairo: Millions of Pounds in Stolen Gold and Jewelry

The niece of the murdered jeweler, Bulaq Abu Al-Ela, revealed the size of the stolen items from inside her uncle’s shop. She explained that the stolen items were large quantities of gold bullion, gold sets and pounds, and precious rings and chains, which were estimated at millions of pounds.

The accused of killing Khawaja Hosni Jawaherji, Bulaq Abu Al-Ala, staged his crime in the presence of a representative of the Public Prosecution and amidst heavy security guarding.

The accused said that on the night he committed the crime, he entered Khawaja Hosni’s shop like any regular customer and asked him to buy gold bullion to invest his money in the gold field, and he made an agreement with him to buy a certain number of bullion.

He then asked Al-Khawaja to send the worker in the store to buy a pack of cigarettes, and Al-Khawaja agreed to send him, after which the accused assaulted him by hitting him in the head, as a result of which Al-Khawaja lost consciousness, then he stabbed him 4 separate times in his body, causing him to die instantly, which was revealed by the surveillance cameras, which showed all the details of the incident. And the features of the accused who was identified and arrested within a few hours of the crime.

Upon the return of the shop worker, he found Al-Khawaja Hosni drowned in his own blood, so he informed the police, who arrived immediately, and all legal measures were taken regarding the incident.

The examination and inspection revealed that the stolen items consisted of large quantities of gold bullion, sets, jewellery, chains, rings and gold pounds, and their value was estimated at millions of pounds.

In less than 24 hours, the security services in Cairo succeeded in arresting the accused of killing Goharaji Bulaq Abu Al-Ela, and he was taken under tight security guard to the Bulaq Abu Al-Ela Police Station to investigate him and uncover the circumstances of the incident, in preparation for presenting him to the Public Prosecution for investigation.

The Public Prosecution had conducted extensive investigations into the incident of the killing of jeweler Bulaq Abu Al-Ala and the theft of his shop’s contents, which were estimated at millions. A team from the Public Prosecution moved to the crime scene and a photographic inspection was conducted by the investigating authorities. The body of the jeweler known as Al-Khawaja Hosni Al-Khanajri was found and it was discovered that he had disappeared. Its contents include gold bullion and jewelry, estimated at millions of pounds (being counted).

The Public Prosecution heard the statements of witnesses to the incident from the owners of nearby shops and the family of the dead man in an attempt to reach information about the perpetrators of the crime. The store’s surveillance cameras were examined, which revealed that a person had assaulted the shop owner and killed him. His body was transferred to the morgue at the disposal of the Public Prosecution. The forensic laboratory was tasked with removing fingerprints from the crime scene.

For its part, the professional trade union committee for workers in the jewelery trade and industry extended its sincere condolences to the family of Khawaja Husni Al-Khanajri.
