On social media, the internet quickly took off. Today, however, the most ardent defenders of the work will be relieved by an announcement from the city of Mons: it has just been taken over by the city of Mons and is now stored in a secure warehouse, protected from the elements. “In addition to protecting the mural, the city government’s desire is to promote it in a place where the people of Mons can appreciate it for a long time to come”insists the city of Mons.

“However, given the size and weight of the mural, a suitable location has yet to be determined”, she pointed out. The city lord lasted seven days, so the latter should be exposed again in one day. However, finding a suitable location is not easy considering the space it takes up.

true legend

As for the rest, keep in mind that this mural was removed in 2013, when the old Mons station was also demolished. The then station master had reached an agreement with the then contractor to restore the mural. It was eventually restored by the St. Ghislain Vintage Railway Museum. Two years ago, however, the latter informed the SNCB and the city of Mons through museum conservator Clément Scholl that he could no longer keep it due to lack of space.

Without intervention, the mural would have ended up in the trash, just like it did in 2013 without the initiative of the webmaster. The city of Mons has expressed interest in restoring the mural and organized a meeting last May with plans to move it to a secure hangar in the city. But times have changed, and Railroad Mural has left the warehouse to breathe fresh air in order to store other works.

Social networks came to the rescue, and things finally sped up, and work finally resumed and became safe. How does the saga end?
