Municipality of Asunción presents project for a unified transportation system in the capital

Asunción, IP Agency.- The Municipality of Asunción presented this Monday the first stage of a project that seeks to unify the operation of the public transportation companies permitted in the commune and improve the service within the capital.

The first stage consists of a single stop for the four companies that depend on the municipality for transportation services. The next stage is to implement a single ticket for the citizens of Asunción.

Finally, a system of buses and minibuses will be implemented that will cover, respectively, the routes along the main avenues of the city and the trunk accesses in the neighborhoods.

These new itineraries will be through the services of the four companies that currently operate and previous companies that are no longer operational, in order to guarantee service in various parts of the city.

In the medium term, the commune seeks to incorporate 100 new buses: 65 large buses for the main sections and 35 minibuses for routes through the neighborhoods.

These measures also seek to make Asunción once again part of the public transportation fare subsidy system, implemented by the Vice Ministry of Transportation of the Ministry of Public Works (MOPC).
