The Municipal Chillán women’s basketball team achieved its third consecutive victory in the Second Division of the National League once morest Truenos de Talca, demonstrating a great level of play, where it has managed to maintain its undefeated record and remain at the top of Group C.
The Chillán team defeated the Talca squad 57 to 53 as visitors, in a heart-stopping duel that was decided at key moments for the team led by Abel Vargas.
The Ñuble team has made it clear that they are candidates to continue their streak in the national tournament, where despite not having the height compared to other teams, they have demonstrated great defense and great speed and effectiveness in the offense, in addition to maintaining focus at key moments.
“The game was very rough and tough. We had scouted and knew that they were a team that shot a lot. However, they surprised us because they showed a lot of inside play. We don’t have that many tall players and they surprised us and we made a lot of fouls. It has become a trend to prepare for games and then modify game situations, but that shows the good performance of the girls who have been able to improve in moments when there is no solution, but we managed to take advantage from the perimeter,” said the coach.
“We managed to neutralize them at key moments, where they only made two or three three-pointers, we took a twelve-point lead, which was later shortened because they were very aggressive under the basket, but we managed to maintain it and leave the difference at 4 points; we had a great process, we rotated the bench well and everyone gave their maximum effort,” he added.
“It was a very physical match, it was a very tough duel until the last second, but we managed to maintain consistency throughout the quarters. Now we have a little time to rest and prepare for the next game where we will face the same rival, but this time at home. We want to give our best game in this second leg, where we will then have to measure ourselves once morest other teams. We are happy with the team’s performance,” said player Ana Gallardo.
