Municipal Council of Punta Arenas withdraws Augusto Pinochet’s status as “distinguished citizen”

This Monday, Municipal Council of Punta Arenas approved derogate the decree that granted the quality of “Distinguished Citizen” to the dictator, Augusto Pinochet.

The fact was confirmed to Third by the mayor of the commune, Claudio Radonich, who pointed out that the vote counted with six votes in favor and two abstentions, of which one was his.

Radonich explained that the vote arose following Councilor Germán Flores (DC), sent an official letter proposing to name “illustrious son”, the president-elect, Gabriel Boric.

“In that circumstance was that the councilor of the Communist Party, Alejandro Olate, asked that the distinction made to General Pinochet in the year 90 be repealed ″added the mayor.

While, This Friday it will be discussed to deliver a distinction to the President-elect, Gabriel Boric, who is originally from the Magellan city.
