The municipal council of Bulnes will hold an extraordinary session on March 1, at 10:00 a.m. in the community library to elect the alternate mayor. It is necessary to remember that the incumbent mayor Guillermo Yeber is in preventive detention following being formalized for the crimes of bribery and tax fraud, within the framework of the investigation into the “Cuentas Corrientes” case.
The councilors held a meeting on Tuesday followingnoon with the Municipal Administrator, the Control and Legal Directorate to coordinate the extraordinary session.
Councilor Mireya Lorca announced that it is uncertain who will be the deputy mayor of Bulnes. “I think it is super uncertain who is going to be the next deputy mayor of Bulnes, because although it is true within the municipal council that it is not well focused on the political parts, beyond friendship, that we get along well, that We can have some ties there, I think that today things are a little dizzy. At that moment it will be determined, there are no prior conversations, I believe that each councilor will go to vote at the moment, here there are political votes and there will also be votes perhaps of confidence, perhaps also with conviction because I have to see that the future deputy mayor finishes a good period, beyond the political issue, we have to finish running our commune well and that is what we were elected for,” he explained.
Regarding the formalization of Mayor Guillermo Yeber, the councilor assured that it took them by surprise and they did not expect that the “Cuentas Corrientes” case would impact the Bulnes authority.
“Obviously it was a bucket of cold water, we did not expect it, we knew that there had been an investigation behind it for a long time, due to everything that burst in the region and in other communes, but we always had hope with the vote of confidence that was had granted to the mayor that this might allow him to be undefeated. Now, while it is true, I was one of the councilors who always inspected and in fact I was one of those who filed the complaint for Global SpA, which has to do with the precarious camps here in Santa Clara, among other things we had there. investigating other projects that this company had won,” he said.
“Today one may suddenly feel a little guilty, but I explained to the citizens that the councilors are elected to supervise, it has nothing personal to do with the mayor, but it is also recognized that he had a good work plan.” Therefore, for one it was a surprise and a disappointment, because one expected that the mayor might be there this period and the next,” he added.
Lorca regretted the situation of the commune and what it means in terms of the development of projects for the benefit of the community, as he assured that “even if everything continues as it is, there are processes that are going to go backwards.”
He added that the residents of Bulnes are sorry following losing trust in Yeber. “One feels the feelings of the people, the pain for the trust that had been given to the mayor, he was one of the mayors with the highest votes in Ñuble, one also feels that, and obviously one cannot be relieved because as long as it is not proven “The opposite remains innocent,” he concluded.
