Municipal Council canceled in Schaerbeek for lack of quorum, “the cup is full”: does the Cité des Ânes still have a majority?

Atmosphere once more deleterious this evening at the municipal council of Schaerbeek, where the council chamber was full of a very agitated public. As soon as the citizen interpellation, the citizens occupied the sound space by urging the resignation of the college. A college, like the council, which did not know how to make itself heard, the volume of the microphones, quite low it must be said, did not cover the protests from the room.

50 euros per year in parking per household for their visitors, the proposal of the Schaerbeek college to appease the debates on parking

When starting the agenda, several advisers from the mayor’s list were not present. These are the three anti-Good-Move municipal councilors. “For more than a year, the political majority in Schaerbeek no longer has the quorum necessary to hold a municipal council. Faithful to the commitments made to the people of Schaerbeek, the opposition has always wanted to be constructive and has always maintained its presence in order to make municipal services work. Today, the cup is full”, communicated the Socialists, the MR, the PTB, Les Engagés and the independent liberal, Georges Verzin.

This Wednesday evening, Schaerbeek had to vote on its budget. And also had to consider an opposition motion concerning the thorny issue of parking. Many questions arise, this Wednesday evening, regarding the political future of the City of Donkeys.

It seems more and more obvious that Schaerbeek no longer has a majority. And seems less and less governable. Among the possible tracks, on a purely arithmetic level means: the rise of the PS in the majority to the detriment of Ecolo. A possible arithmetic, but which would not ensure more stability to a quorum, the reds counting one seat less than the greens.
